Mexico
During Christmas break, i spent alot of time with my family. Mostly with my dad's side of the family. I had remembered that a few months back, my grandpa, my dad, and his brothers were talking about going to Mexico soon. I wondered why this was such in a hurry. Then, a few days later my dad told me something that made me feel upset for a while. It was about my great grandma. She had been sick for a while. I was probably only about three years old when I first went to Mexico. Well, to Zacatecas. That's where my dad's from. My brother was also born there. My mom's from a small town called Tlaltizapan in Morelos. I kind of like going to Zacatecas more than Morelos because there is more things you could do and more places you could go to. Anyway, it all started on New Years. It was the worst start to a new year for me.
On New Years day my grandpa got a call from one of his brothers. He said that my great grandma had been getting worst. I would've kind of thought so because she had been in bed for more than two months. So on January 3rd my dad and I decided to leave to Mexico before something bad happened. We got there that same day, in a couple of hours. It wasn't that long of an airplane ride. We got to the house at about eight o'clock at night. The first thing we did was rest and the next morning we went to go check on my great grandma. I could tell she was frustrated. It was really sad. Every day we would go visit her and two days later the rest of the family started flying out to Mexico. Relatives from Nevada, California and here in Colorado all went. So then, my grandma and grandpa came. A week later my mom, my brother, my sister, my cousins and my aunt and uncle came. Now something bad was about to happen i thought.
During this time, there would be some type of carnival or whatever in town. We couldn't go though because two weeks later she passed away. This was the saddest part of the trip. A few days later i took my little cousins to a basketball court near the house. They were trying to have a fun time playing while trying to forget about what had happened. Then, it became night and my parents came to pick us up and we went back to my great grandma's house. More people had arrived. There was about 50 of my family members there now. They were praying. Many hours passed and then i decided to take my cousins to play some soccer. We went and then i saw a few people from school. I wasn't that surprised because i already knew they were also from the same part of Mexico as me. I just wasn't expecting to see them.
One of my dad's brother's had arrived to Mexico the day of the funeral. He was upset because it had been like five years since he last went and saw my great grandma. A couple days later we were still trying not to think so much about this. Anyways, i still got to see a lot of my cousins and friends. I had lived in Mexico for two years of my life when i was about four years old. During those two years i went to Kindergarten. Now every time i go to Mexico and i see my friends i remember what we used to do when i lived there and when we played in kindergarten and stuff like that. I still talk to them and everything. I really like it in Mexico. Sometimes i think i should move there and stay there but sometimes i think the opposite.
Well, that was kind of off topic but, that's kind of the only reason why i missed three full weeks of school and why i had to go to Mexico. Without my great grandma there, going back to Mexico will never be the sane, i bet. As soon as i got back to school, i had to get back on track and catch up to what everyone was doing in class. I feel like i did a pretty good job on that, honestly. Then , the week we had conferences here at school, my mom left to Mexico but this time to Morelos. She went to go see her family because it had been four years that she didn't go. She was really happy. In fact, she barely came back yesterday, February 26th. She was there for two weeks also.
When we came to conferences, all my teachers told my dad that they were impressed with how fast i had caught up with the other students since i had come back from Mexico, and missed three weeks of school. Technically, i didn't go to school for a month and a week (counting Christmas break). Finally, i was really happy because my dad said that now since he knows i will catch up in school i get to go to Mexico again and hopefully during Summer break!
